Cómpeta is one of the white villages of the Axarquía region in Málaga and reminds us of the days of the Moors with its maze of narrow steep streets, bordered by flowers on the balconies and corners which transport the visitor back to ancient times.

The town fiesta commemorating Saint Sebastian is held at a weekend around July 25 each year. On August 15 there is the "Wine Night," which has been officially declared an outstanding festival stageing folkloristic events and serving the famous Wine of Competa for all to taste. .
Owing to its privileged geographical situation, anyone staying in Cómpeta can use this village as an operations base to visit the main cities in Andalucia which are only 1 or 2 hours away. There you can enjoy such marvellous sights as the Alambra in Granada, the Alcazaba in Málaga, the Mosque in Córdoba, the Giralda in Sevilla or towns like Ronda, Antequera and Nerja.

Within a radius of 30 minutes one can find both quiet or lively beaches along the Costa del Sol alongside the possibility of playing golf.
In the center of the village, which has a markedly cosmopolitan atmosphere, we come across restaurants providing the typical gastronomy of the area with authentics dishes such as fried pumpkin (much prized by gourmet) fennel stew (in winter), "migas" made of bread crumbs fried in olive oil almond cake, cold soups such as "ajoblanco" and "gazpacho", chorizo (a type of sausage made of onions, red pepper and tomatoes), etc . .
In the countryside near Competa, the visitor can chose between a wide range of sporting activities which are on offer, including rambling, mountain climbing, mountain bike, hang gliding, horse riding, etc.
